Online Fraud
Online Fraud is a mushrooming problem, keeping pace with the e-commerce surge. Last year, consumers reported losing about $2.8 billion from unscrupulous, or outright fraudulent, online merchants - up from $2.6 billion in 2004, according to CyberSource, a provider of online security products.
When consumers read or hear about such rip-offs in the media, you can be sure it makes it more difficult for honest online merchants, who simply desire to deliver quality goods and services.
While such negative publicity impacts all online businesses, it's especially damaging for newer online merchants. After all, why should a consumer take a chance buying from a site he or she has never heard of , or one that has no track record?
How can an e-tailer establish credibility? The universal eTailer Code of Ethics & Conduct is the solution.
